Items covered in this link:

  • Languages, Dialects, and Rules
  • The African American Vernacular Dialect of English
  • Myths about ‘Be’
  • Negative Concord: Don’t Want No Double Negation
  • Negative Inversion
  • Dropping Consonants Right and Left
  • Somethin’ Bout Nasals
  • Dialect Switching
  • Not All African Americans Know AAVE

AAVE is neither the language of the uneducated or slang of the streets. It is a language. A true language just as Italian, Spanish and British English are true languages. To imply otherwise is both factually incorrect and a sign of your own ignorance in a subject you know nothing about.
